Tiger Reserves closing Time

by pateluday @ 2008-05-16 - 22:09:16

It is a little more than one month to go before the parks close down due the monsoon rains. The tiger reserve in Central India close on 31st June till October 1st.

The hotels at Kanha still receive visitors from India. The visitors from UK, USA and other European countries who form the bulk of foreign visitors do not visit now. The reason is that after mid April the heat starts to rise and it becomes unbearable. Only those who are interested in tiger photography dare to bear the heat. This is wonderful time for wildlife watching since animals congregate in the core zone as water elsewhere dries down.

Unlike Kanha the hotels at Pench do not close down after the closure of the park as the fun crowd from nearby town Nagpur keep on visiting the resort. They limit themselves to the surrounding or are holed up in the hotel drinking and dancing.

This is the time for wildlife and tiger photography as there is good light and the forest cover is reduced. Moreover the animal activity heightens in the core zone which aids the photographer in locating major mammals - tiger, leopard, sambar deer and even sloth bears easily.

Most of the action in the parks around this time is at waterholes and grasslands providing excellent scope for capturing animals in your camera.
